Even more rebranding

Wouldn't you guessed it. I have some more for you. Master Card this time. They have changed the logo and the name to Mastercard Worldwide.

More rebranding - Sprite

Everyone is rebranding these days. I think Digital Arts will be the only one who stayed true to their design. :)

Anyway SPRITE is has launched new packaging style so ... what do you think?

Rebranding - Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network has rebranded itself and I think, it's safe to say, it worked. The 3D feel definitely gave it a distinctive modern touch.

e107 content management system

For all those who have a need for a content management website system, but can't be bothered designing one from scratch, I recommend the e107 system. It's free, easy to install and use, with vast community providing free themes, plugins, hacks and support. I have just put together a fansite for the Godfather the Game using e107 and I can't complain. To enter the Godfather Universe, click here.

Quark rebranding struggle

Quark's rebranding approach is on the best way to the "Top 10 ways how NOT to do it" book.
After the ill-fated rebranding in September 2005, Quark has decided to ditch the logo and come up with a new one yet again.

This time the logo was handled by Quark's own internal creative team. Even though the result is now much better than the 9/2005 version, which was almost identical to the "Scottish Arts Council", there is now a close resemblence with the Sony-Ericsson logo.

Maybe if Quark invested more effort in updating their software than changing the corporate identity there would be less frustrated Quark users among us. ;)

everything I have ever...

Quite smart poster design Designed by Ross Cooper & Nic Woodley can be found here.
The poster is decorated with over 400 silhouettes. The ‘scratch-off’ ink can be removed to reveal everything you have ever... loved, lost, created or destroyed. By scratching off some of the symbols in your own way, you can make this poster unique.

Adobe InDesign CS Tips & Tricks!

There is a few useful keyboard shortcuts on the Flux Cnsulting page at http://www.fluxconsulting.com/IDtips.html

You probably know most of them already but I found some really useful ones I didn't know about...

(ie. Control-tilde to switch between open documents or Control-Alt-Shift and select a menu to sort all menus alphabetically)

InDesign User Groups website also have some PDFs with tips and trick available for download here.

Need some free Photos, Clipart or templates? Then keep reading.

OK, we know there is a reasonable ammount of free photos for download out there in the depths of mighty internet. My personal favourites are morguefile.com and sxc.hu.

But what about vector drawings? Well during my recent stroll down the google avenue, I stumbled at the Open Clipart Gallery, which might be just what a graphic designer sick of clients demanding overused clipart pictures needs. Check it out.

Another fine addition to the free resource list is the Open Source Web Design site, featuring lots of available webdesign templates free for all. And some of them are really worth checking out.

Famous Fonts

Like the font form your favourite movie or TV show? There is quite a lot of them available for free download here.

(Not Only) Lorem Ipsum - online random text generator

Ever wondered what that "Lorem Ipsum" dummy text means? According to this website nothing really.
It is known that people are distracted by readable text, so when displaying a typeface, publishers use lipsum to make people focus on the typeface and not on the content.

Now where it gets interesting is, that this website has an online random lipsum text generator, that can generate the dummy text in other languages, such as Elven Quenya, Morse code, Greek, Russian, Arabic, Esperanto and more...

Well I know I'm only using Quenya from now on for the dummy text. :-)

You can even change the default placeholder text in InDesign by putting a file called placeholder.txt into InDesign application folder. InDesign will than use whatever is in that file as a dummy placeholder text.

Photo Search by Sketch

To start off somehow, here is the interesting photo search engine that searches Flickr photos by sketch. Kinda cool when you need an image to match some colours.
